Vocational language training DeuFöV


Since 2016, we have again been offering vocational language courses in accordance with the guidelines of §45 DeuFöV:

The structure of national vocational language training is modular.

Basic modules:

  • A2 to B1
  • B1 to B2
  • B2 to C1
  • C1 to C2

Each module concludes with a certificate examination "German for the Profession" - DTB away.


General requirements

You must meet the following requirements to participate in the professional language course:

  • They have a migration background and a need for further language training. This is the case for immigrants from third countries, EU citizens, and Germans with a migration background.
  • You have already completed an integration course and/or already speak German at level A1, A2, B1, B2, or C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). To attend courses with a target language level below B2, you must have previously attended an integration course, including having taken and failed the German language test for immigrants.
  • You must be registered as a job seeker and/or usually receive benefits under SGB II ("Hartz IV") or SGB III (unemployment benefit).
  • You are looking for an apprenticeship or are already in training.
  • You are currently going through the recognition process for your professional or training qualification.


Participation as an employee

If you are already employed, you can participate in the professional language course. The prerequisite is that you do not yet have sufficient language skills to cope with your future work routine.


Special groups

Persons with tolerated status according to Section 4 Paragraph 1 Sentence 2 Number 2 who do not have access to the integration course can take part in a special vocational language course with the target language level A2 or B1.


Costs of participation

Participation in the professional language course is generally for freeIf your taxable Annual income is over €20,000, you pay a contribution of €2.56 per teaching unit (50 percent of the reimbursement rate). For a course with 400 teaching units, this amounts to a total of €1,024. The employer can also pay the contribution.
